Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive

There's a ton of financial news to cover this week, so I'm going to try to keep my thoughts brief to avoid writing an entire article. In Standard, Thought-Knot Seer and World Breaker are up over 100 percent on the week to $15 and $9 respectively. Thought-Knot Seer is the consensus best rare in Oath of the Gatewatch and has a chance to be the next Siege Rhino in Standard and possibly see some Modern play as well. World Breaker has been getting a lot of hype on social media as being Standard playable, but I'm still not sold. Kozilek's Return also jumped 58 percent to $24, which isn't a surprise since the card has a ton of potential across formats.
Of course the biggest news of the week is the banning of Summer Bloom (very expected) and Splinter Twin (very unexpected) in Modern, which were announced early after Wizards banned the cards on the Magic Online Beta client and someone pointed it out on Reddit. While this will obviously shake up the format, it also had wide-ranging effects on the prices of cards in Modern.
First off, pretty much anything related to the Modern Bx Eldrazi deck spiked. It seems that people really were concerned about a banning (however illogical this seems to me, since Wizards is trying to sell an Eldrazi-themed set) and now they feel safe buying in. These cards include Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth with both versions up 150 percent to about $25 and Eye of Ugin which is now $40 despite being reprinted at rare in Modern Masters 2015.
Second, cards from decks that may get better thanks to the bannings are spiking. Scapeshift is up 54 percent to nearly $60 and Karn Liberated is up 27 percent to $57. Voice of Resurgence also increased significantly, up 71 percent to $49. This last one may be counter-intuitive, but when you consider Leonin Arbiter and Gaddock Teeg were also on the winners list, it might be that GW Hatebears is on the rise. Assuming Bx Eldrazi is one of the big decks in the format, this makes sense. GW Hatebears is good against discard and tutor effects like Eye of Ugin, Conduit of Ruin and Expedition Map, so maybe it's the hot new way to defeat the Eldrazi menace.
Finally, some optimistic Twin players are betting on Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker to fill the Splinter Twin role as a combo piece, driving its price up between 70 and 130 percent (depending on the version) to the $20 range. While it seems unlikely that UR Twin can survive with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker in the Twin slot, it's possible that people will head towards Kiki Chord lists if they want to go infinite with tokens.
