Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
The biggest finance news of the week is the continued focus on Pauper, with Curse of Chains tripling up to over $2, Flaring Pain doubling to $1.50, and Quirion Ranger increasing 66% to about $5. At this point the biggest question regarding Pauper is what the future holds. Is it the next Tiny Leaders or the next Commander? It's hard to say for sure, although the budget aspect of the format combined with heavy community support gives Pauper a leg up compared to other "new to paper" formats. I've spent the last couple of weeks digging through my bulk to pull out Pauper staples, and if you're interested in the format, you should probably do the same.
In Modern, we continue to see the impact of Pro Tour Rivals of Ixalan, with several pieces of RB Hollow One including Collective Brutality, Blackcleave Cliffs, and Hollow One itself topping the winners list, following spikes from Goblin Lore and Burning Inquiry over the past couples of weeks. While the deck seems legitimate and will likely stick around, it's still probably wise to sell into the hype of you are holding copies of any of the newly expensive cards from the deck.
Finally, keep an eye on your Deserts in Standard. Hashep Oasis nearly doubled in price this week and all of the uncommon pain Deserts are seeing heavy play. With Amonket block rotating this fall, this will likely be the peak. If you have any extras around from cracking packs or boxes, look to sell or trade them away towards cards you'll need from Dominaria and Core Set 2019.
