Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |

Last week we talked about Cavalier of Night spiking as an upgrade for Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir Commander decks and our conclusion was that considering three of the five Cavaliers in the Core Set 2020 cycle had seen big price jumps it probably wouldn't hurt to pick up the two that were still cheap - Cavalier of Gales (planeswalker stamp) and Cavalier of Flame. Well, it happened a lot quicker than expected as Cavalier of Gales (planeswalker stamp) was one of the biggest gainers this week, doubling in price from $3 to $6. This makes a lot of sense considering that Cavalier of Gales (planeswalker stamp) is blue, making it another potential upgrade for the Esper Knight themed Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir deck. At this point, Cavalier of Flame is the only member of the cycle that's still relatively cheap. Assuming it doesn't get reprinted, it seems possible that something will come along eventually to increase its price. Picking up a playset just in case probably isn't a bad idea.
Meanwhile Metamorphose is the latest card for the emerging Dandan format to be bought out with the Scourge uncommon shooting up from around $1.50 to $4 this week and foils going for a massive $25. If you're not familiar with the format, there's a good breakdown on TCGPlayer, but basically, the idea is that Dandan is a format where both players play with the same 80-card deck. It's almost a Magic-themed board game in many ways. The increasing popularity of the format has led to a bunch of weird price movements lately with cards like Diminishing Returns, Predict, and Crystal Spray all getting the Dandan bump, not to mention Dandan itself. If you are interested in the format, I'd recommend picking up the cards you need soon because as more players buy the janky, old, forgotten cards that makeup Dandan, the prices could continue to increase.
Finally in the realm of March of the Machine, Ozolith, the Shattered Spire is creeping up, gaining 12% on the week to just under $5. The artifact has been widely adapted in Modern Hardened Scales, which is having some success on Magic Online, driving the demand for Ozolith and also its price. Add in some demand from +1/+1 counter-themed decks in Commander and Ozolith, the Shattered Spire has the look of a card that could continue to slowly creep up in price.
