Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
This week was fairly quiet on the finance front. Many of the biggest winners were for Commander and related to the release of Battlebond. For example, Nature's Will jumped 48% to $13 as an easy way to go infinite with Najeela, the Blade-Blossom, while Stitch in Time (up 40% to $8.49) is the latest coin flip card to spike based on the printing of Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom and Okaun, Eye of Chaos. Once again, the lesson is to get your casual card early since these spikes are becoming a tradition every set release. If you have copies and don't play Commander, don't be afraid to sell into the spikes.
Speaking of Battlebond, the set has come down a lot in price in just the last few days. In fact, in the week between when spoilers finished and when the set officially released, Battlebond dropped about 25% in value. If you're looking to pick up some of the sweet reprints from the set, it's probably best to keep waiting since there's still a lot of Battlebond to be opened over the next few weeks.
Finally, on the latest edition of "the Reserved List is silly," Unlimited Birds of Paradise increase 250% to $274 on the week. A white-border version of Birds of Paradise (which has been reprinted about a million times) being worth $274 without being on the reserved list is a pretty good argument that other cards from the earliest years of Magic wouldn't crash in price if they were to be reprinted.
