Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
This week, Standard has been fairly quiet with the biggest winner being the uncommon Stitcher's Supplier which is up to $2.32 as a way to stock your graveyard. At this point it's certainly worth digging out from your bulk. Meanwhile, shocklands have settled into the $8-$9 range, which isn't a bad price if you need a Standard manabase immediately; however, most should still trend down towards $5 as the set is opened.
Keep an eye on cards from Masters 25 and Iconic Masters. Normally about a year after a Masters set is printed, cards start to increase in price as supply runs dry. With a fairly reasonable chance of a Modern Pro Tour this winter or spring, if you've been holding off on any of the reprints for Modern or Commander, you should probably look towards picking them up soon.
Finally, in Legacy Back to Basics was bought out this week, jumping from about $80 to around $300. The weird aspect of this buyout is that Back to Basics isn't on the Reserved List, which means that it could be reprinted at any time. While it's not the type of card that Wizards would allow in Standard or Modern, you can bet it will be near the top of the list for a future Masters set if its price holds. I'd try to avoid buying now if possible. While it might take a year or two, Back to Basics will be reprinted. Even though it is playable in Legacy, its price will crash hard since it's expensive due to low supply rather than high demand.
